A magical night of Mahler

18 May 2018 / 10:05 H.

CATCH renowned classical composer Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.4 in G major tomorrow at 8.30pm and Sunday at 3pm at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, KLCC, presented by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).
Written between 1899 and 1900, Mahler's fourth symphony is generally regarded as his most approachable one, imbued with gentle radiance and childlike charm culminating in a child's view of heaven in its finale.
Also included in the programme are Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and Richard Wagner's Overture to Tannhauser.
All concerts will be led by Roberto Abbado (below), awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati by the Italian Music Critics Association. He has conducted the MPO in numerous concerts over the years.
The concerts will also feature American Lauren Snouffer, one of the most versatile sopranos in the world.
Her opera performances include Alban Berg's Lulu, Andrew Norman's A Trip to the Moon, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem and Houston Grand Opera's The House without a Christmas.
