Malaysian student's remains to arrive from Bali this evening

JAKARTA: The body of a Malaysian student who died in a road accident in Bali on Friday evening will be repatriated this evening.
The remains of V. Tharshine, 24, who was killed after her motorcycle crashed into a stalled lorry will be flown via MASkargo at 4.25pm and is expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 7.25pm.
According to a Malaysian Embassy spokesman in Indonesia, the embassy in collaboration with Indonesian authorities helped with arrangements to return the body.
"We also assisted the victims in pursuing claims for compensation from the Bali government as the accident occurred in area which was under the administration of the Bali government.
"The Bali government has agreed to pay Rp50,000,000 (RM14,040) to cover costs to transport the body to Malaysia," he said, adding that on arrival in Kuala Lumpur, the body would be taken to the family home in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam.
In the 6.45 pm incident, Tharshine, a student at Udayana University, Bali, died on the spot while two friends who were in Bali for a holiday were injured, when their motorcycles rammed into a stalled lorry on a road shoulder at Karangasem, Bali.
S. Shivalamar, 24, who was Tharshine's pillion rider, sustained severe head and body injuries while another friend, Rehan Chandra Sekaran, 25, who was on another motorcycle, escaped with minor injuries.
"Shivalamar will receive compensation of Rp20,000,000 (RM5,600)," the spokesman added. — Bernama
