Man gets 15 months jail for impersonating AADK officer

PETALING JAYA: A man with three children was sentenced to 15 months' jail by the magistrate court here today on two counts of impersonating a National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) officer to solicit money from victims.
Magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir handed down the sentence on Tarmizi Ismail, 36, after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was ordered to serve the jail sentence from today.
Tarmizi. who is unemployed, was charged with three others, who had been charged, and another person still at large, with impersonating as AADK officers and carrying out an inspection on Aamir Sohaib and Jullyana Arfi at a condominium in Damansara Damai, near here at 2.30 am last Nov 23.
The charge, under Section 170 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
In mitigation, Tarmizi, who was not represented, said he was the sole breadwinner for his family and had three school-going children.
