SHAH ALAM: A man was believed to have drowned while on a fishing outing with his son at Pantai Morib, Kuala Langat near here, yesterday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said Juani Mohd, 61, went missing while he was pulling up a fishing net.
Juani's son lost sight of his father while the elderly man was pulling the fishing net and immediately contacted the Fire and Rescue Department, he said in a statement today.
Mohd Sani said the department received the distress call at 7.05pm and immediately launched a search and rescue operation, which also involved the police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.
The search and rescue operation was resumed today, he said, adding that the department had also alerted fishermen in the area to inform the authorities should they find the victim. — Bernama
