KUANTAN: A man who flew into a rage when his mother stopped him from washing rubber mats in the house, stabbed the woman seven times at Felda Jengka 10, Maran yesterday.
Maran district police chief DSP Mazlan Hassan said in the 6.45pm incident the suspect who was believed to be under the influence of drugs, brought a pail of water into the house to wash the rubber mats.
"The 64-year-old mother forbade her son from doing so as it was almost dusk. This angered the 40-year-old unemployed widower who started attacking and stabbing his mother with a knife," he told the media today.
He said neighbours who were alerted by the woman's screams rushed to the victim's aid and took her to the Jengka Hospital.
The woman suffered injuries to the back of her right ear, left ribs, back and left thigh, he said.
"The victim was allowed to go home and thanks to quick action by the police and information provided by the public, the suspect was nabbed at Felda Jengka 10 main road at 7.20pm yesterday.
"A knife believed to be used to stab the victim was found on the suspect," he said adding that the suspect who was positive for methaphetamine had a criminal record involving drugs and violence.
The suspect is being remanded for a week and the case has been classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
