Marine police discover drugs in Pengerang forest area

JOHOR BARU: The Region 2 Marine police discovered 1.77kg of syabu during an operation in the forest area at the coastline of Sungai Tengah Beach, in Pengerang, near here, yesterday.
Its commander ACP Paul Khiu Khon Chiang who confirmed the discovery said the drugs worth around RM140,000 were placed in six plastic packets and kept in a backpack.
The backpack was left at the area and police believe the drugs were to be smuggled out.
"However, despite the discovery, no arrests have been made," he said in a statement here today.
The seized items were brought to the Bandar Penawar police station and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
