GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) today announced a new product from its partnership with homegrown FinTech company ManagePay Systems Berhad (MPay) - an innovative travel card and loyalty solution.
The "Jelajahi Negaraku Malaysia" card offers loyal MATTA customers perks such as attractive cashback deals and special member discounts at a wide range of travel and lifestyle merchants.
MATTA's honorary secretary-general Nigel Wong told a press conference that the card and loyalty programme will promote travel and provide customers with flexibility in terms of worldwide acceptance.
Wong said the card would also prove popular among tourists with its unique Malaysian branding.
"It is set to be a collector's item among tourists and patriotic Malaysians," he said.
MPay will also launch a travel deal e-commerce site named travel.buymalaysia.com which will go live this month.
At phase one, the site will promote the travel deals available in MPay Wallet and by January next year, the site will be launched as a full-fledged travel e-commerce platform with special discounts for cardholders.
MPay's Group Marketing Manager Tan Chia Wei said the card will allow travellers to go cashless without having to pay hefty fees by using payment cards from their home country.
"Instead of taking a huge amount of cash, travellers can purchase the card, load the card with ringgit and spend with ease while enjoying cashback rewards," she said.
The card will also work seamlessly with MPay Wallet, the group's digital wallet app as cardholders can check their card balance or top up and keep track of their transactions.
The prepaid travel card is now available for sale on Buy Malaysia.com.
Those who purchase the card before Sept 15 will be eligible take part in a lucky draw with free return air tickets up for grabs.
The card will be available for sale at its launch price at MATTA Fair Penang at the Setia SPICE Arena from Sept 28 to Sept 30.
