PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has busted a cross-border migrant smuggling syndicate following the arrest of a suspected ground coordinator, who is from Indonesia, in an integrated operation in Malacca, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur early today.
Its director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said also detained were two men, who acted as the transporters and 10 illegal immigrants.
"Two vehicles, two taxis and cash estimated at RM30,000 were seized," he said in a statement.
Mustafar said the raid was carried out as a result of the intelligence information sharing between agencies on the human trafficking syndicates active in Mukim Padang Temu, Malacca. — Bernama
