KUALA LUMPUR: Low-lying areas at the fringes of the city particularly MRR2 and Ampang have been hit by flash floods due to a downpour that lasted for more than two hours.
A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman told Bernama when contacted that the rain which started around 3pm, inundated the areas with about half a metre of water.
"Heavy rain in MRR2 towards Ampang after Zoo Negara caused a traffic crawl of more than five kilometres but the situation is under control and the water had subsided by 7.30pm," he said.
He said the river water level in Lembah Jaya Utara, Ampang here was reported to have risen to one metre but still under control.
Nevertheless, he said the Fire and Rescue Department was on standby for any eventuality. — Bernama
