PETALING JAYA: Ousted prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak didn't step down as Umno president willingly. He was forced to quit, former deputy home minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (pix) has said today.
He refused to resign despite the defeat at the General Election on May 9 until he was forced to do so, a news portal reported today.
"Even after we lost the election, he refused to immediately resign as the party president until he was forced to do so on May 12," FMT quoted Nur Jazlan as saying.
He said there were calls for Najib to step down, "but he did not want to listen".
