No honorary Rela rank for 'Datuk Seri' (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: The People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) denied that it will be awarding any honorary rank to the "Datuk Seri" who had allegedly assaulted three its members in October last year.
In a statement, Rela said they view the claim by Datuk Seri Liow Soon Hee that he would be awarded the honorary rank by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as a serious allegation.
In a four-minute video that has gone viral, Liow claimed that Ahmad Zahid's younger brother will ask the deputy prime minister to give him a rank in Rela so that he can lead them.
"In the past, I had no respect for Rela and the media, but now I am willing to join Rela to safeguard security and all problems will be solved," Liow said in the video.
When contacted by theSun, Liow denied making the video.
Liow was arrested by police on Oct 31 for allegedly assaulting three on-duty Rela personnel at a temple near Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
He was charged on Nov 2 with four counts of causing serious injuries, attacking civil servants and causing injuries to the Rela members.
On Nov 6, Liow was charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 as his urine test was found to be containing "methamphetamine" at about 9.40pm at Dang Wangi police headquarters on Feb 1, 2014.
Liow has claimed trial to all charges.
