Perak civil servants to receive RM2k in recognition of service

IPOH: State civil servants will receive a special incentive payment of RM2,000 in recognition of their contributions and years of service said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir (pix).
"The first payment of RM1,000 will be paid in December and the remaining amount will be disbursed before Hari Raya," Zambry said during the tabling of the state's budget for 2018.
He said religious teachers, temporary teachers, mosque officials and village chiefs would receive RM1,500 from the federal government.
"To do justice the state will pay an additional RM500 so that all civil servants will enjoy the same amount," Zambry said.
He added that the payout will cost the state RM22 million.
Earlier, Zambry tabled a deficit budget of RM1.17 billion for 2018, with a revenue of RM1.08 billion.
He said the state had tabled a deficit budget for the last seven years.
Zambry said RM755.5 million will be allocated for operational cost and RM42.28 million for development.
While RM358.5 million had been allocated for emolument, RM259.5 million for services and supply, and RM14.5 million for purchasing assets.
He said the budget will focus on five aspects – development and economy, well being of the people, knowledgeable and excellent community, conserving sustainable resources and heritage, and livelihood.
Later at a press conference, Zambry said the state would not raise any taxes, but look for new sources of revenue from minerals and usage of water.
