Perak PAS to meet Ulama Syura Council to form state government

IPOH: Perak PAS will hold a meeting with the Ulama Syura Council to discuss conditions for the formation of the new state government.
Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria said the three state seats won by the party in the 14th General Election (GE14) made PAS the 'kingmaker' that would determine the formation of the government.
He said that after winning three seats in GE14, the state PAS held unofficial meetings with both Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), but there had yet to be a decision.
"In Perak, neither PH nor BN can form the government on its own. With three seats, PAS has the determining factor to form the new state government," he told reporters after attending the Perak PAS Committee meeting, here today.
To date, Perak has yet to form the state government as none of the parties which contested had garnered a simple majority of 30 state seats (as required to form the state government) in GE14.
In the GE14, 59 state seats contested saw PH (PKR, DAP, PPBM and Amanah) winning 29 seats, with BN taking 27 seats and PAS, three. — Bernama
