SERDANG: Police arrested three men for impersonating cops and robbing a group of foreign construction workers at Damai Utama, Puchong on May 2.
In the incident at 2.30am, six foreigners aged between 20 and 30 were robbed by the trio when they were in their "kongsi", before carting off their belongings.
The victims were apparently "raided" by the suspects who were armed with a machete, a sickle and a hockey stick.
The men posed as police personnel and then conducted an unauthorised search in the victim's squatters.
They grabbed the foreigners' passports, five handphones, and RM1,420 before fleeing on three motorcycles.
The victims then alerted the police and upon questioning them, police subsequently detained the suspects within three hours on the same day.
Investigators have also retrieved the stolen items from the suspects.
Serdang district police chief ACP Ismadi Borhan said the suspects were remanded at the Serdang district police headquarters and the case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, Section 397 of the same code for armed robbery and for impersonating as a public servant.
