Police dispose of gambling machines worth RM1.65m

PORT DICKSON: As many as 248 simulator machines and 645 computers used for cyber gambling worth RM1.65 million were disposed of by police today.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin said the items were seized in police operations from 2006 until now.
"Today, we are working together with Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd for the disposal process of the case exhibits with appropriate procedure for each component of the gambling machine.
"These items were confiscated in cyber gambling operations carried out in Port Dickson, Jempol, Seremban, Nilai, and Rembau," he told reporters at Negri Sembilan Police's Cyber Gambling Machine Disposal Programme here.
At the press conference, he also warned that the police would continue to take stern action against individuals involved in cyber gambling activities, in order to realise the main focus of the national police chief, namely to eradicate all forms of gambling.
"We will not compromise with any operators, including police officers or personnel collaborating with them to protect cyber gambling activities and legal action will be taken against them if found guilty.
"I urge the public to cooperate in combating this cyber gambling menace as it not only gives rise to unhealthy social symptoms among the people but also destroys the family institution," he said. — Bernama
