Police raid entertainment centre organising gambling game

Malacca: An entertainment centre believed to be organising 'Ngau' gambling game over the last six months, was raided in an operation dubbed Ops Dadu at Taman Malacca Raya here last night.
Malacca police chief Datuk Abd Jalil Hassan said 11 individuals including five gamblers, aged between 20 and 54 years were detained after they were found in one of the rooms at about 11.30pm.
He said RM47,103 suspected to be gambling winnings, 52 pieces of playing cards and gaming chips worth RM300 and RM200 were seized from the room which operated as a mini casino.
"Police have arrested a man, believed to be the illegal gambling host along with four local men and an Indonesian woman suspected of being involved in helping the illegal gambling operation.
"When we raided the room everyone was concentrating on the card game. This is the first time we have detected the game being played in Malacca," he told reporters when met at the closing of a shooting competition for department and agency heads, here today.
The competition was also participated by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron. — Bernama
