MUAR: Hang Tuah Jaya PPBM Division vice-chairman Prof Dr Kamarolzaman Mohd Jidi will be expelled by the party for contesting the Ayer Molek state seat as an independent.
Party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) said Kamarolzaman's action was against the party's constitution, and the party was waiting for a full report of what transpired.
"We have made a decision that once the seat allocations within Pakatan Harapan (PH) were concluded, the seats should belong rightly to the relevant component party," Muhyiddin told reporters after attending a ceramah here late last night.
"If there are anyone who contests as an independent, surely they do not get our approval and have acted on their own. In terms of our disciplinary board, action will be taken against these individuals, that is to sack them.
"We can't allow this because they have betrayed the party's struggle, go against our party discipline, and did something that could cause problems with the other component parties."
Muhyiddin, who is also PH deputy president, added that he would get more information from coalition leaders in Melaka today when he pays them a visit later this afternoon before making a final decision.
Kamarolzaman a drama on nomination day yesterday when he appeared at the nomination centre and registered himself as an independent candidate for the Ayer Molek state seat under the Hang Tuah Jaya parliament (previously Bukit Katil).
It was said that he was unhappy at not being picked as a candidate for the seat, which was given to Farhan Ibrahim @ Alias of PKR, after having focused his efforts with the PPBM Hang Tuah Jaya machinery.
However, this did not go down well with PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, who is also the Hang Tuah Jaya candidate, as the Ayer Molek seat would now have a four-cornered fight including PKR.
