KUALA LUMPUR: The Taman Ikan Emas redevelopment project which is expected to be completed within three years, is proof of Barisan Nasional's (BN) concern for the needs of Bandar Tun Razak residents here.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the project involving an area of 58.37ha, comprised the Sri Johor, Sri Pinang, Sri Malaca and Taman Ikan Emas public housing apartments, totalling 5,689 residential units.
"Of the total, 4,794 units will be owned by those who are currently renting their homes from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), while another 895 units have been purchased by others.
"Each unit offered will contain three rooms and two bathrooms with one free car park per unit, as well as other facilities such as surau, kindergarten, hall and open market which will provide comfort to the residents," he said in his speech at a ceremony to hand over offer letters to residents of the public houses involved in the re-development of Taman Ikan Emas Phase 1 here today.
Tengku Adnan said the 'piling' and 'substructure' works for Phase 1 had already begun, and the project was expected to be completed by December 2021.
"In 2013, DBKL tenants who received offer letters for new homes were only offered a 800 sq ft replacement, and now after five years, the developer has agreed to change the size of the unit to 850 sq ft without additional cost.
"The BN government is concerned for the people in Bandar Tun Razak, offering homes with a market price of at least RM300,000, at only RM28,000 to DBKL tenants," he said.
A total of 1,638 tenants were given new offer letters for purchase of the replacement units today. — Bernama
