Remand extended on 32 over death of navy cadet

PETALING JAYA: The remand orders for 32 Malaysian National Defence University students detained over the death of navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain have been extended until next Wednesday.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said the extension was to facilitate investigations into Zulfarhan Osman's death.
“Meanwhile, four students from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) were released on police bail,” he said in a statement today.
Zulfarhan Osman, a 21-year-old UPNM third-year student, died at 9pm on June 1 at the Serdang Hospital, allegedly due to injuries sustained from bullying.
The third year electrical engineering student, died of severe burn injuries to his body which was inflicted by a hot steam iron. There were also multiple bruise marks, believed to be from being severely beaten by his attackers, on the body.
