Ringgit ends higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar for the second consecutive day today on the back of positive buying sentiment for the local unit, said dealers.
At 6 pm, the local unit was traded at 4.2315/2325 against the US dollar from 4.2360/2390 on Monday.

A dealer said the ringgit strengthened in tandem with most regional currencies as sentiment against the greenback turned negative following the charge of US President Donald Trump's former campaign manager as part of an investigation into the president's election campaign linked to Russia.
The ringgit, however, was mostly lower against a basket of major currencies.
It was lower against the Singapore dollar at 3.1071/1096 from 3.1069/1101 yesterday and weaker versus the yen at 3.7354/7373 from 3.7282/7312 on Monday.
The ringgit eased to 5.5856/5886 from 5.5750/5798 when compared with the British pound yesterday.
It, however, rose against the euro to 4.9225/9241 from 4.9290/9342 on Monday. — Bernama
