RoS approves Pakatan's registration as formal

PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has lifted its temporary deregistration of PPBM and approved Pakatan Harapan's (PH) registration as a formal coalition effective May 16.
In a statement yesterday, Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said RoS' decision to lift the order on PPBM was made after considering the information presented by the party in its appeal process.
He explained that RoS is allowed to lift any dissolution orders served to any associations upon receiving the required information.
"With the issue resolved, PH's registration application has also been approved in accordance with Section 7 of the Societies Act 1966 on May 16, 2018.
"As such, PPBM and PH will be allowed to conduct their activities in line with their registered constitutions and objectives, as well as in accordance with the Act," he said.
Later, Alwi hand-delivered PH's registration certificate to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also the coalition chairman, at PPBM's headquarters.
PH first submitted its application to formalise the coalition in July last year but was rejected on grounds that certain requirements were not met.
PPBM, on the other hand, was temporarily deregistered just a month before the elections for failing to furnish meeting minutes of its divisions and branches, forcing its members and other coalition members to run under a single logo – PKR's – for GE14.
