TAWAU: A total of 100,400 students from 78 parliamentary constituencies nationwide have received school aid distributed by the government through the 'Happy 2 School' (H2S) programme.
The programme organised by the Umno Membership and Voter Registration Bureau (KDP Umno) in collaboration with Kelab Putera 1Malaysia (KP1M) aimed to lessen the burden of the students' families in preparing for school paraphernalia.
KDP Umno chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, who is also the president of KP1M, said the aid that was given to all those eligible, regardless of the parents' political affiliation, was distributed since Nov 15, last year, and ended today at the Kalabakan and Tawau parliamentary constituencies.
"The H2S programme contributed school uniforms, bags and shoes to add on to the students' school supplies," he told reporters today after officiating the H2S programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kalabakan near here that was also attended by Kalabakan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Abdul Salleh.
At the event, Azeez presented the school aid and a special cash aid to more than 1,000 students from SK Ulu Kalabakan, SK Brantian, SK Kalabakan and SMK Kalabakan.
Azeez added that the aid distributed to the residents was proof of promises fulfilled for the well-being of the people under the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak. — Bernama
