Sultan Nazrin attends state-level warrior's day celebration (Updated)

IPOH: The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah today attended the state-level 2017 Warriors' Day celebration at Dataran Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here.
It was also attended by the Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and the Raja Dihilir Perak Raja Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris.
Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and the state executive council members.
At the event, despite the drizzle, Sultan Nazrin inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by three senior officers and 102 members of other ranks from the First Battalion General Operations Force, Ulu Kinta, accompanied by music performed by band members from the Ipoh Royal Malaysian Air Force Academy.
This was then followed by a poetry recital, with the title "Pahlawanku" (My Warrior) by Corporal Kamarulzaman Mat Rashid, from the Tapah district police headquarters.
In Kota Kinabalu, the celebration in was held at the Likas Sports Complex and was attended by more than 3,000 people gathered.
It began with the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin taking the salute and inspecting a guard-of honour mounted by three officers and members of the Third Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
Also present were Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin; Sabah police commissioner Datuk Ramli Din; State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman and members of the state cabinet.
Various activities and performances were held , including poetry recital.
Those present also observed a moment of silence in memory of the fallen heroes.
A total of 35 contingents, involving more than 1,000 participants, took part in the Warriors' Day parade.
In Petra Jaya , Kuching, 150 army and police retirees were awarded medals for their contributions in safeguarding the country's peace in conjunction with the state-level Warriors' day celebration.
They comprised 75 army retirees who were awarded the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) and 75 police retirees, including former Sarawak police deputy commissioner Datuk Dr Chai Khin Chung, who were awarded the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN).
They received the medals from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Pehin Abdul Taib Mahmud.
The event was also attended by Abdul Taib's wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, First Division Infantry Commander Datuk Stephen Mundaw and Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Awal. — Bernama
