Teenager among three arrested for trafficking drugs

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have arrested a teenager and two other men for trafficking drugs worth around RM25,000 at Taman Tokun Jaya here.
According to Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid, the police held an operation at the two-storey house, which was also a grocery shop, at about 11am on Monday (Oct 16).
Nik Ros Azhan said the police stumbled upon the teenager, aged 16, who was staying inside premise.
The lad hailed from a village in Bedong, Kedah.
Upon sweeping the premise, the police found another suspect staying in a bedroom beneath the stop and one more at a bedroom upstairs.
An additional bedroom was found locked and the police broke – in to find 15 packets of the ketamine drug, which weighed 630.8gm, 49 ermine tablets, weighing 13.64gm and tools to pack the items.
"The total seizure was worth RM25,800 in the black market," Nik Ros Azhan told a press conference.
The teenager and a suspect, who worked as a store assistant tested negative for narcotics but the other suspect, who worked as a chef tested positive.
None of those detained had prior criminal records.
The police would investigate the case under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 where the mandatory punishment is a death sentence.
