KUALA LUMPUR: Police fired eight shots at a heavily tinted Proton Perdana car when its driver refused to heed an order to pull over but instead, sped towards the Sungai Besi (Besraya) Expressway from Jalan Dagang in Serdang early today.
Serdang Police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said the police fired the shots after the suspects’ car grazed the police vehicle in an attempt to force it off track in the 12.20am incident.
“Although one of the bullets hit the rear tyre of the car, the suspects still refused to pull over but continued speeding towards Sungai Besi before the car finally stopped in front of the Sapura Building,” he told Bernama when contacted here.
Megat Mohd Aminuddin said three men got out of the car and tried to escape on foot but were immediately apprehended by the police.
Upon searching, police also found an eight-inch long knife with the words “Smith & Wesson Homeland Security” engraved on it, under the driver’s seat.
All suspects were taken to the Serdang Police headquarters for further investigation under Section 186 and 394 of the Penal Code; Section 6 (1) of the Corrosive, Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958; and Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
