Two families evacuated in Terengganu due to floods

KUALA TERENGGANU: Fourteen people from two families have been evacuated to a relief centre at Mengabang Telung Multipurpose Hall near Kuala Nerus up to this afternoon due to floods.
Kuala Nerus Disaster Management Department Secretariat Capt Ahmad Kamal Hakim Ngah said eight families were affected by the floods caused by heavy rain since yesterday.
"However, five families have moved to the homes of relatives while a family moved to a nearby homestay," he said in a statement today.
As of this afternoon, it was still raining in Terengganu.
Meanwhile, state Education Department director Shafruddin Ali Hussin said all primary and secondary schools in the state were operating as usual. — Bernama
