Two suspected drug traffickers arrested in Bintulu

MIRI: A coffee shop assistant and an unemployed man, both locals, were detained by the police for alleged drug trafficking in a raid conducted under an operation, "Ops Cantas", here last night.
Bintulu police chief Supt Zailanni Amit said the suspects, aged 27 and 22, respectively, were arrested at 10.50pm when they were in a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4WD) at a car park of an entertainment centre in Bintulu.
The two men are detained for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction, he said in a statement today.
Zailanni said following the arrest, police recovered various types of drugs, valued at RM22,000, in the 4WD vehicle and also from a house occupied by the suspects. — AFP
