KUALA LUMPUR: The police have been given seven days by Umno lawyers to provide relevant documents and information on the RM116.7 million seized from Pavilion Residences, Kuala Lumpur, during investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
They said a letter had been issued to the police and have given the authorities a "reasonable" seven days to respond.
"We have issued a letter to the police to request for the relevant documents and information on the seizure of approximately RM116.7 million claimed to be the actual amount seized by the police. We have given the police a reasonable seven days to furnish the requested documents," the statement said.
The lawyers reiterated that the money seized belonged to Umno and was not related to 1MDB nor SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Last week, Umno's legal unit chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said a team of lawyers was considering various aspects in claiming the money, which Umno said belonged to the party.
