PETALING JAYA: Water supply to 96.8% of areas in Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur has been restored with only a few areas still having water woes.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) today said work was being done to ensure that areas still experiencing water disruption will have supply restored as soon as possible.
A few areas in four districts namely Petaling, Klang, Gombak and Kuala Lumpur are still experiencing dry taps.
Earlier today, Selangor speaker and Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh posted live videos on her Facebook page of water tankers going to SS12 to SS19 in Subang Jaya.
"Latest update, SS19 not much recovery yet. Possibly recovery by midnight or tomorrow early morning," she said on her page together with the latest statement from Syabas.
A surge vessel system burst at the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) water treatment plant on March 6 resulting in an extended water disruption.
Selangor executive councillor Zaidy Abdul Talib had earlier promised that the water supply would be restored by 6pm on today.
Zaidy, who is in charge of infrastructure and public utilities, modernisation of agriculture and agro-based industries, said the water authorities have been instructed by the state government to expedite the restoration works on five pumps at the plant.
