KUALA LUMPUR: The new Women and Children's Hospital Kuala Lumpur (WCH KL) will be ready for operation by the last quarter of 2017.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said once the facility is ready, most of the existing women and children services by Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) will be moved there.
"The hospital is among the many projects implemented at HKL in an effort to provide the public with the best medical care and facilities," Subramaniam said during an official visit to HKL today.
Among the ongoing projects that will be implemented at HKL includes an operating theatre complex, intensive care unit and additional wards as well as a new National Medical Forensic Institute building that is expected to be completed by 2021 and the upgrading of the emergency department that is scheduled to be completed by 2019.
Meanwhile, Subramaniam also advised those who do not require emergency treatment to go to the KL Outpatient Clinic in Jalan Fletcher.
"This is to ensure that those who really require emergency treatment at HKL would not need to wait long," he said.
He added that the operation hour for the clinic has been extended to 10pm on weekdays and 12 noon on weekends to accommodate the public.
