IPOH: Government commended the 25,000 strong police force in maintaining peace and order at the recently concluded 29th Sea Games.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said: "their commitment and services during the biennial games ended without any untoward incidents.
"Security drill prior to the Games had assisted the personnel to monitor the surroundings and movement," he said in his speech at the get together event with police personnel and their families at General Operation Force North Brigade Ulu Kinta here today.

Ahmad Zahid who is also Home Minister said: "We came to know of possible terrorist threats and managed to ensure the smooth organisation of sports events at the various venues.
"Although the police force was not directly involved in the contribution of the medals, the tight security at the locations enabled Malaysian athletes to grab 145 gold medals without any problems.
"This is the best performance by our athletes in the history of the Games," he added.
Ahmad Zahid also said: "The Government appreciates the contribution of the security personnel and it is reasonable for them to ask for better facilities and other benefits."
