KUALA LUMPUR: The preacher Zamihan Mat Zin who was arrested this week has been released today at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters.
He was seen leaving the station at 2.30pm greeted by his family. The media camped outside the station could not get a comment from the preacher.
His lawyer Fakhrul Azam Abu Hassan said that he was released because the magistrate court had not approved the police's application for a remand extension.
Zamihan was arrested on Wednesday and remanded for two days after a video of him criticising the Johor Sultan surfaced earlier this week.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that the preacher would be investigated for sedition.
In the video, he was criticising the Johor Sultan's stand against a Muslim only launderette in the state.
He said that it was not right to ban such launderettes.
