Nvidia CEO says no active talks on Blackwell chip sales to China

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirms no active discussions about selling Blackwell AI chips to China, citing current US restrictions and Chinese policy.

TAIPEI: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated on Friday that there are “no active discussions” about selling the company’s advanced Blackwell artificial intelligence chips to China.

The Blackwell is Nvidia’s current flagship AI chip that the Trump administration has blocked from Chinese sales over military and domestic AI industry concerns.

Speculation emerged last week that US-China talks in South Korea might permit a scaled-down Blackwell version for China, but no agreement has materialised.

“Currently, we are not planning to ship anything to China,” Huang said during his fourth public visit to Taiwan this year.

“It’s up to China when they would like Nvidia products to go back to serve the Chinese market, I look forward to them changing their policy,” he added.

The US has permitted Nvidia to sell its H20 chip in China, but Huang noted China’s reluctance has reduced Nvidia’s advanced AI chip market share to zero.

Huang also confirmed he visited Taiwan to meet long-time partner TSMC and participate in the company’s sports day. – Reuters
