Scuffle erupts at Pavilion KL amid rush for Audemars Piguet x Swatch ‘Royal Pop’ launch

A scuffle reportedly broke out during the Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal Pop launch at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur amid long queues.

FOLLOWING the recent launch of the Audemars Piguet x Swatch “Royal Pop” collection in Malaysia, many enthusiasts had been eager to get their hands on the highly sought-after timepieces following intense online hype.

However, as excitement surrounding the watches grew, tensions reportedly escalated at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur after a fight allegedly broke out on Friday (May 16).

According to a post on Threads, there was allegedly inadequate crowd management for the long queue formed outside the store.

“There was no proper queue control, which I think led to the fight because there was no official queuing system.

“As a result, people started forming their own lines and rushed in at the same time,” the viral post stated.

Footage of the incident showed several men involved in a scuffle while others attempted to intervene and break up the altercation.

The post also compared the handling of the queue with the launch of a local brand, claiming that it had been managed in a much more organised manner.

According to reports, Swatch stores had implemented a one-watch-per-customer policy during the official launch.

The release also reportedly fuelled demand for queue-running services, with such offers being promoted on social media at prices ranging from RM600 to more than RM1,000 above the watches’ retail prices.
