A mother shares how her son proudly viewed his first C in arts as a chance to improve and learn from it
IN a heartfelt post on Threads, mother Aainaa Azmi shared a proud and emotional moment with her elder son when he received a C grade for the first time in his Arts subject.
Aainaa recounted how her son came home from school with a wide smile, excitedly saying, “Guess what, Mama? I got my first C in Pendidikan Seni (Arts subject).”
When she asked how he feels about it, he replied, “Excited, because it’s my first C. A little sad because it’s a C. But the good thing is now I know I need to improve in Arts, so I can try to do better.”
Seeing her son feel safe to share his experience without fear made Aainaa feel both emotional and overjoyed.
She reflected on how her parenting approach has helped break the cycle of fear around academic setbacks.
Despite initially struggling to accept the result, especially as Arts can now affect overall performance in the final exam, she recognised the effort her son had put in.
“He completed all 12 papers while being sick with cough and flu during exam week, yet he refused to skip any. I am confident he did his best, and his effort is what matters,” she wrote.
Aainaa concluded with a heartfelt note on growth: not only can her son improve, but she too can learn to react better when results like this appear in the future.
Moved by the post and kid’s positive approach, many appreciated Aainaa for her good parenting and breaking the “strict parents” trait in pressuring children for academic excellency.
