Los Angeles has been rebuilt, although humanity is no longer responsible for its transformation. The story follows Cora, a fugitive who assumes one final identity as a Blade Runner in an attempt to stop running from her past.

She is forced to work with Olwen, a Replicant with only days left to live. Together, they pursue a runaway carrying information that could bring down the city.

Hunter Schafer portrays Cora, a human who survives by passing herself off as a Replicant.

Star-studded cast expands the Blade Runner universe

Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben join Yeoh and Schafer as series regulars. The recurring cast includes Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.

Prime Video announced the Nov 25 premiere during a Hall H panel in San Diego attended by Yeoh, Schafer, showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Blade Runner director Ridley Scott. Jonathan van Tulleken, whose previous credits include Shogun, directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer.

Blade Runner 2099 continues the science-fiction franchise that began with Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner. Denis Villeneuve directed its 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049, which starred Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.
