Persona Energy and UTM Launch Motorsports Education Program

PERSONA Energy Sdn. Bhd. (Persona) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have entered into an official partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop an integrated Motorsports program within UTM, Malaysia’s leading engineering institution.

The collaboration aims to establish the Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Programme Xcelerator (TTAP Xcelerator), a tailor-made educational platform designed to provide micro-credentials to engineering talents, facilitating their entry into the dynamic world of motorsports.

The MoU exchange ceremony took place at Menara Razak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, with the attendance of Jazeman Jaafar, Executive Director of Persona Energy and Malaysian International Racing Driver, and Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

TTAP Xcelerator is a co-structured platform aimed at offering enthusiastic individuals the opportunity to acquire enhanced and recognised module certifications, empowering them to advance their careers in motorsports. Selected talents will receive direct exposure to practical and technical skills learning from renowned race engineers, leading motorsport team principals, and experienced chief mechanics at the race track.

Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail emphasised the critical role of technology application, vehicle engineering, and team management in motorsports and highlighted the emphasis on practical and experiential learning in the TTAP Xcelerator program.

TTAP Xcelerator provides a unique opportunity for individuals aspiring to pursue a career in the automotive and motorsport industry by offering real-world scenarios to enhance knowledge in engineering technology, safety, team management, sponsorship, marketing, and structural organisation across various motorsport disciplines.

UTM, renowned for its tech advancement and automotive engineering expertise, collaborates with TTAP, bringing expertise in motorsports, notably through its partnership with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific. Together, they aim to offer a first-of-its-kind educational experience bridging automotive engineering and motorsports, while nurturing a local talent pool capable of integrating into international racing teams.

Jazeman Jaafar, founder of TTAP, emphasised the program’s commitment to honing the skills and expertise of participants in motorsports and high-performance engineering. He highlighted the program’s intent to prepare talents for local and international career opportunities, capitalising on technology transfer to enhance developments in the local automotive and motorsport industry.
