Saudi Arabia and Qatar sign a high-speed railway deal to connect Riyadh and Doha in two hours, creating 30,000 jobs and serving 10 million passengers annually
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Qatar have signed an agreement for a high-speed electric passenger railway project connecting their capitals.
The railway will span 785 kilometres, linking King Salman International Airport in Riyadh with Hamad International Airport in Doha.
With speeds exceeding 300 kilometres per hour, travel time between the two cities will be reduced to around two hours.
The project is scheduled for completion within six years.
It is expected to serve 10 million passengers annually and generate 30,000 jobs across both nations.
The agreement was signed during Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s official visit to Riyadh. – Bernama-Xinhua
