Johor leads e-COSS registrations with over 100,000 users

Over 100,000 Johor residents have registered for the subsidised cooking oil scheme, making it one of the highest adoption rates in Malaysia

JOHOR BAHRU: More than 100,000 Johor residents have registered for the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (e-COSS) since its launch in August.

Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said this makes Johor one of the states with the highest number of users nationwide.

Data shows subsidised cooking oil purchases through e-COSS in Johor recorded 1,920.20 tonnes from August 15 to November 18.

Meanwhile, 1,770.52 tonnes of purchases were recorded through the manual registration method.

“This transaction volume proves the effectiveness of both methods,” Lilis Saslinda said at a press conference after the e-COSS Mobile Application launch ceremony.

The event was held at the Mydin Mutiara Rini supermarket, a subsidised package cooking oil distribution point.

She stated the application helps curb leakage and reduce the number of public complaints.

“So far, complaints about packet cooking oil have been decreasing,” she added.

Lilis Saslinda noted the public files complaints and authorities conduct quick inspections to ensure sufficient supplies.

Apart from using the e-COSS app via a QR code, manual registration through a supermarket logbook is also provided.

This method allows consumers without smartphones to access subsidised cooking oil packets legally and in an orderly manner. – Bernama
