Perak JPJ inspected 1,662 vehicles in the first two days of Ops HRAA, issuing 510 notices for traffic offences including no licence and no insurance.
IPOH: A total of 1,662 vehicles were inspected during the first two days of the 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Operation (Ops HRAA) conducted by the Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Perak JPJ Director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan said that out of the total vehicles checked since yesterday, action was taken against 206 vehicles for various traffic offences.
According to him, 510 P22 Notices were issued, while urine screening tests conducted on 53 drivers all returned negative results.
“The top three offences detected over these two days were having no Motor Vehicle License (LKM) with 139 cases, no insurance (119 cases), and driving without a license (103 cases).
“In addition, we also detected two offences committed by express buses during an undercover riding operation, where the drivers were found continuously driving in the right lane,” he said during a press conference after conducting an inspection at the Aman Jaya Bus Terminal in conjunction with Ops HRAA 2026 here today.
Mohammad Yusoff said the special operation, scheduled to run from May 24 to 31, focuses on nine major offences that frequently cause road accidents. These include speeding, running red lights, overtaking on double lines, and using mobile phones while driving.
“As a readiness measure for public transport, Perak JPJ is also conducting bus inspections at depots from May 24 to 26 to ensure that these vehicles are at optimum safety and technical levels before carrying passengers,” he said.
In a related development, Mohammad Yusoff noted that between January and May this year, a total of 23,287 commercial vehicles were inspected under the 2026 Commercial Vehicles Special Ops.
“Out of that number, 2,923 enforcement actions were taken, including the impoundment of 44 vehicles. This involved 6,600 cases of P22 Notices, 499 cases of Section 63(3) Notices, and 41 cases of Section 64(1) Notices.
“The highest recorded offences for commercial vehicles were driving without a vocational license (999 cases), driving without a Competent Driving License (CDL) (772 cases), and overloading offences (677 cases),” he said.
He added that during the same period, Perak JPJ also intensified its Luxury Vehicles Ops, which saw 60 luxury vehicles impounded, including Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Alphard, and Porsche Cayenne models.
“Most of them involved offences such as expired LKM and insurance, as well as driving without a valid license. For these, Perak JPJ issued 199 P22 Notices and 60 cases of Section 64(1) Notices,” he said.
