Former MARA officer pleads not guilty to RM15,800 CBT charges

A former MARA assistant officer faces 25 counts of criminal breach of trust involving over RM15,800 in loan repayments from four individuals.

MUAR: A former Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) assistant officer has pleaded not guilty to 25 counts of criminal breach of trust involving RM15,839.66.

Nor Hasmal Hazwani Mohd Kamal, 40, was charged in the Sessions Court here today over funds deposited into her account for MARA loan repayments.

The prosecution alleges she misappropriated the money, belonging to four individuals, for personal use.

The individuals named are Hamidah Mohd Zain, Muhammad Zakaria Rahmat, Mohd Izar Md Zan and Haslinda Hanapi.

The sums involved range from RM3,000 to RM5,393 per complainant.

The offences were allegedly committed at the Tangkak district MARA office between March 2021 and November 2024.

The charge, under Section 406 of the Penal Code, carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years, whipping and a fine.

Judge Mohd Khairi Haron allowed bail of RM22,000 with one surety for all charges.

He also ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station on the first Monday of each month.

The case has been set for mention on April 8.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Ameera Allaudeen prosecuted, while Nor Hasmal Hazwani was unrepresented.
