A 63-year-old man faces a murder charge for allegedly killing his 40-year-old wife at their home in Kelantan earlier this month
TANAH MERAH: A 63-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering his wife earlier this month.
Ibrahim Sulaiman is accused of killing 40-year-old Mastura Abdullah at an unnumbered house in Kampung Paku, Gual Ipoh.
The alleged offence occurred between 9.30 am and 12.15 pm on December 1.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty.
If the death sentence is not imposed, the offence is punishable by 30 to 40 years’ imprisonment and not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.
No plea was recorded from the accused as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Magistrate Tun Faez Fikhrie Tun Asrul Saini fixed February 12 for mention of the case.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Irfan Aizat Mohd Daud prosecuted the case.
The accused was unrepresented in court. – Bernama
