Police seek public’s help to identify a man found dead by Sungai Bayu Puteri, with the cause of death recorded as unascertained due to decomposition.

JOHOR BAHRU: The body of an unidentified man was found in a decomposed state by the banks of Sungai Bayu Puteri near an apartment building.

Johor Bahru South District Police chief ACP Raub Selamat said police received information about the discovery at about 6 pm yesterday.

Initial investigations found no identification documents on the victim, who also lacked a BCG injection mark.

Fingerprint identification could not be carried out due to peeling skin.

A post-mortem was conducted by the forensic unit at Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

The cause of death was recorded as ‘Unascertained’ due to the body’s condition.

Raub said no missing persons reports matching the victim’s description had been received at the Permas Jaya Police Station.

The case has been classified as a sudden death report.

“We are still continuing investigations to identify the deceased,” he said in a statement today.

Members of the public with information are urged to contact Majidee Police Station chief Inspector Khairul Naqwan Md Razip at 010-6610620.
