Former Armed Forces Chief (PAT) Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar will be charged today at the Kuala Lumpur Special Corruption Court over alleged abuse of power and criminal breach of trust involving the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT).
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Armed Forces Chief (PAT) Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar (pic) will be charged today at the Kuala Lumpur Special Corruption Court over alleged abuse of power and criminal breach of trust involving the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT).
Mohd Nizam, 59, arrived at the court complex at about 8.20am.
A check of the court system showed that Mohd Nizam, is scheduled to appear before Judge Rosli Ahmad at 9am.
Court proceedings are ongoing, with no decision reached at the time of writing.
He is expected to face two counts under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 for alleged abuse of power, one count of criminal breach of trust under Section 409 of the Penal Code, and one count under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
The charges stem from investigations into alleged irregularities in military procurement, which had been ongoing for several weeks.
Section 23 of the MACC Act carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if convicted.
Mohd Nizam was appointed as the 23rd Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces on Jan 31, 2025.
