KUALA LUMPUR: Police have concluded their investigation into rapper Wee Meng Chee, known as Namewee, regarding the death of a Taiwanese female influencer last month.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed investigation papers have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
“The investigation papers have been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and are currently awaiting further instructions,” he stated today.
Namewee remains in remand after police obtained an extension order until tomorrow.
Authorities initially secured a six-day remand order against him on November 5, followed by a three-day extension last Monday.
The victim, 33-year-old Hsieh Yun Hsin, was discovered deceased in a hotel bathtub along Jalan Conlay on October 22.
Her body underwent post-mortem examination at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
The case classification has been upgraded from sudden death to murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
