Perak police are tracking a suspect believed to be overseas in connection with a police officer’s shooting and a woman’s body found in a car
IPOH: Police are actively tracking a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting, stabbing, and the discovery of a woman’s body in Simpang Pulai last September.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the suspect is believed to be currently abroad.
Efforts to locate the individual are ongoing with the cooperation of federal police headquarters Bukit Aman and several other agencies.
“The investigation into the case is still ongoing, and police have not ruled out any possibility,” he said.
He spoke at a press conference after officiating a road safety programme at Unisem Ipoh.
Noor Hisam also provided an update on the injured police officer from the incident.
The officer has been transferred back to his home state of Sarawak on welfare grounds to facilitate treatment.
“He has no family in Ipoh; therefore, the police arranged for his transfer,” Noor Hisam said.
The officer has since returned to duty, according to the police chief.
“The police remain committed to continuing the investigation until the suspect is successfully tracked down,” he added.
Previously, Ipoh police sought Interpol’s assistance to track down the suspect.
The incident on September 7 involved a 26-year-old officer from the Simpang Pulai police station.
He was shot in the abdomen and stabbed during a struggle with the suspect.
A woman’s body was also discovered inside a car at the scene. – Bernama
