Police arrest a man and seize drugs worth over RM1.7 million in a Segambut raid, enough to supply nearly 350,000 users

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man and seized various drugs worth more than RM1.7 million in a raid on a residence in Segambut here on Thursday (June 11).

Sentul police chief ACP Basri Sagoni said the raid was carried out by a police team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Sentul District Police Headquarters.

He said police seized MDMA powder (1167.4 grammes), Erimin 5 pills (69.2 grammes), ecstasy pills (186.63 grammes), ketamine (1158.9 grammes) and yaba pills (7.27 grammes) during the raid.

“The total amount of drugs seized could have supplied 349,872 users at one time,” he said in a statement, yesterday.

He said the man tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while a criminal record check found that he had 13 prior offences.

Basri said initial investigations found that the unemployed man had been involved in drug trafficking activities for the past six months.

“Further investigations are being carried out to identify other members of the syndicate and the source of supply,” he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded for seven days until Thursday (June 18) for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
