Kuala Lumpur City Hall reduces rental for Ramadan bazaar sites from RM500 to RM400 to ease traders’ burden and ensure fair food pricing.
PUTRAJAYA: The rental rate for Ramadan bazaar sites under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been reduced to RM400 this year.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the RM100 reduction from the previous RM500 aims to ease the burden on hawkers.
“The same charges are mandatory for hawker associations to ease the cost for hawkers,” she told a media conference.
The RM400 maximum charge includes canopy and public liability insurance for hawkers.

Yeoh stressed that any practice of subletting, buying, selling sites, or taking excessive profit is strictly prohibited.
Enforcement action will be taken against any violations, including the organisers.
This year’s Ramadan bazaars will be held at nine locations under DBKL’s supervision and 32 sites under hawker associations.
DBKL, together with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, will conduct daily inspections throughout Ramadan.
“I hope that by reducing the rental, traders will also charge reasonable prices for their food,” Yeoh said.
She also wants the Ramadan bazaar environment to always be clean.
Meanwhile, the rental for this year’s Ramadan bazaar site in Putrajaya will remain at RM1,000.
Yeoh said the MADANI government has carried out a comprehensive upgrading of the bazaars in Kuala Lumpur.
This aligns with its commitment to strengthen governance and protect hawker welfare and public interests.
