Waqf PPZ is now Wakaf Wilayah Persekutuan, with RM7.9 million collected this year, aiming for clearer identity and wider public engagement.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council’s Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) has rebranded its endowment initiative from Wakaf PPZ to Wakaf Wilayah Persekutuan.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the rebranding signals a broader vision for waqf development.
He stated that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, consented to the name change on Sept 5.
Mohd Na’im explained that the current identity often caused public confusion by being too closely associated with zakat collection.
“The rebranding…is a strategic move to ensure that waqf management is easily recognised, its functions clearly understood, and accessible to all segments of society,” he said.
The new identity includes a fresh logo, colour scheme, and the official portal at www.wakafwilayah.com.my.
It also involves standardising the name across all social media platforms and strengthening digital channels for easier donor transactions.
Mohd Na’im reported impressive growth since PPZ-MAIWP was mandated to collect cash waqf in December 2022.
A total of RM7.909 million in cash waqf was collected from 11,121 contributors between January and November this year alone.
He noted that 11 waqf projects have reached their fundraising targets.
A further 35 projects still require an estimated RM413 million in waqf funds.
At the rebranding ceremony, 12 corporations contributed a total of RM657,508.31 to Wakaf Wilayah Persekutuan.
