The Home Ministry suspends police procurement decisions linked to corruption, following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s order for a full review.

KULIM: The Home Ministry has complied with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s instruction to temporarily shelve procurement decisions linked to corruption issues.

Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ministry welcomes the directive, which also applies to the Royal Malaysia Police.

“We at KDN welcome this,” he told reporters after opening a service centre in Padang Serai.

He said he will consult the ministry’s secretary-general to determine appropriate follow-up actions.

The Prime Minister believes there is a need to review the procurement processes.

Saifuddin said the instruction is seen as a reset for procurement decisions at his ministry.

The Home Ministry is among those receiving substantial annual allocations for management and development.

Yesterday, Anwar ordered all Armed Forces and police procurement decisions linked to corruption be shelved.

This is pending full compliance with official procurement procedures.

The government will review and restructure all procurement processes to ensure transparency.

The relevant ministries will conduct this review of the existing system. – Bernama
